In 1990, they released "Painkiller" (reaching No. 26 on the US album charts) and embarked on a massive 100-show world tour, the "Painkiller Tour," spanning North America, South America, Europe, and Japan. One of the highlights of this tour was their performance as the main act at "Rock In Rio 1991" in Brazil on January 23, 1991. This performance was broadcast worldwide via MTV. This album is a live recording of that broadcast, capturing the entire concert, including two encores.
