Synopsis: Colleen, a French female multi-instrumentalist/vocalist, releases her new album (7th overall) after approximately 3 and a half years. A beautiful and comforting masterpiece of experimental pop, like a mysterious constellation floating in the sky. Colleen is the solo project of French female multi-instrumentalist/vocalist C?cile Schott, currently based in Barcelona, ??Spain. After 20 years of creating comfortable, captivating, and enigmatic music, her 7th album, "The Tunnel and the Clearing," comes after approximately 3 and a half years. Composed of meditative, swirling organs processed with analog electronics, steady drum machine syncopation, and her unique vocals, this is her most fragile yet confident album. From albums centered on music boxes and treble viola da gamba to those centered on electronics, her music surprisingly shares a dreamlike, modern quality. In the early stages of creating "The Tunnels and the Clearing," Schott limited her use to analog electronic instruments such as Elka's Drummer One, Roland's Space Echo, Moog synthesizers, and Grandmother, along with a Yamaha organ and carefully selected Moog effects. This limited instrument selection was inspired by her years of listening to Jamaican and African music, where musicians are required to express maximum creativity with minimal tools. And, astonishingly, Colleen achieved the deep emotional complexity and texture density of "The Tunnels and the Clearing" almost entirely through live performance and processing. A musical journey that ends in clarity after emerging from a tunnel. "The Tunnels and the Clearing" is a work filled with clear awe. Media reviews and more.
