This is the first new release in seven years from the Audica label's reissue series, showcasing the achievements of Arthur Russell, the genius who bridged the gap between avant-garde/experimental and disco/garage! From recordings Russell made in 1982 and 1983, preserved on 1/4 tape masters, his partner Tom Lee and Steve Knutson of Audica compiled nine tracks. Russell himself titled this material "El Dinosaur," "Indian Ocean," and "Untitled" in 1985, compiling it into three test pressings. Several tracks on Audica's first release, "Calling Out of Context" (2004), originated from the same sessions as this release. This new collection features rhythmic alternate versions of tracks like "Lucky Cloud" and "See My Brother, He?fs Jumping Out (Let?fs Go Swimming #2)." The closing instrumental, "Ocean Movie," is one of Russell?fs most beautiful and enigmatic works. It reveals yet another facet of Russell?fs astonishingly versatile talent!
