Introduction Formed in 1997, the band takes its name from 1349 AD, the year of the Great Plague in their native Norway. Initially, the band's leader, Ravn, handled both vocals and drums, but he focused solely on vocals when the incredibly powerful drummer Frost (SATYRICON) joined the band. After signing with the prestigious Candlelight label, they released their debut album, "Liberation" (2003), and have continued to release albums in quick succession ever since. They have accompanied CELTIC FROST, whom the band openly cites as their biggest influence, on their US tour, and Ravn made a guest appearance on CELTIC FROST's "Monotheist" (2006), solidifying their position in the metal world. They have continued to tour the world, and have performed in Japan in 2012 and 2017, releasing a total of seven albums. As is evident in their 4th album, "Revelations of the Black Flame," released in 2009, they are also known for their experimental sound that incorporates ambient/industrial elements. While their style has sparked both praise and criticism, subsequent works have balanced it with speedy tracks, showcasing their unique worldview. In their latest work, their first in about five years since "The Infernal Pathway," Frost's blast beats and technical playing explode on almost every track, and evil vocals and sharp riffs permeate the entire album.
