He won first place and second place overall in the 2009 Montreux Jazz Festival's "Public Choice" competition, and the Grand Prix at the 2013 Wilson Center Competition. He has released six albums as a leader or co-leader. The 10 tracks, featuring 14 exceptionally skilled musicians including world-class players like Takuya Kuroda (tp), Maasa Kato (p, keys), and Keita Ogawa (perc), as well as the legendary Chris Potter (ts) and the multi-talented pianist Henry Hay, were written during the solitude of the COVID-19 pandemic, when Ishiguro found solace in music and earnestly worked on the pieces alone at his home in New York.
