THE ORCHESTRA JAPAN was founded in 2015 and made its debut at "Disney on Classic - Spring Music Festival 2015". Since then, it has continuously appeared in "Disney on Classic" national tours from May to June and September to December, as well as the "Olympic Concert" sponsored by the Japanese Olympic Committee. In addition, it has appeared in numerous film concerts, including the "Pirates of the Caribbean" film orchestra, the world premiere of "The Lion King (hyper-realistic version)" and the live-action version of "Beauty and the Beast", "The Little Mermaid in Concert" held at Budokan (2018), "Beauty and the Beast in Concert" at Yokohama Arena (2020), and "Aladdin in Concert" (2025), with a total of over 800 performances to date. Their performances, which evoke a sense of immersion in the stories, have been well-received throughout Japan. In 2018, they held their first classical concert, "First Recital: One Note, One Encounter," at Suntory Hall (Tokyo) and The Symphony Hall (Osaka), with Rainer Honeck, concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, as conductor, showcasing the orchestra's true potential. In March 2025, they performed with Keith Lockhart, principal conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra, at the "John Williams Tribute Special Concert with Keith Lockhart." Following that successful performance, they welcomed Lockhart again as conductor for their "10th Anniversary Concert: One Note, One Encounter vol.2" the following March, delivering a passionate performance filled with gratitude for the past and hope for the future. Having celebrated their 10th anniversary in May 2025, the orchestra is expected to make even greater strides in the future, as they continue to earnestly pursue music that touches the heartstrings, without being bound by genre or existing orchestral conventions. ?Disney Media Reviews and More "Orchestra Japan Plays Disney" is the ultimate album, luxuriously featuring Disney's most iconic songs performed live by a full orchestra with rich and delicate arrangements.
