With a wide vocal range said to be five octaves, she was selected as a backup singer for Stevie Wonder in 1971, and "Lovin' You" from her 1974 album "Perfect Angel," produced by Stevie Wonder, became a massive hit in the US. This song was also a huge hit in Japan and has been covered by numerous artists both domestically and internationally, remaining a beloved standard worldwide.
