This deluxe edition will only be released in Japan!! Holly Cole, the world-famous Canadian vocalist, will release her 13th studio album "Dark Moon" simultaneously worldwide on January 24th, 2025. This new album is a true ensemble project that highlights her unique style, featuring collaborations with new musicians in addition to partners who have supported her live performances for many years. Regarding the new album, Holly herself said, "I had a strong desire to incorporate the spirit of improvisation into this album. At the same time, I believe that the essence of the sound of my music lies in the arrangement. This time, we went into the studio with almost no prior rehearsals, so every song felt incredibly fresh to us while we were in the studio. All the musicians I play with contribute greatly to the arrangement of the songs. I wanted to hear the sound of each person in the moment when their own voice shines, and the majority of the arrangement came together as we all played together. When this album is finished, what you hear is the moment when we discover what we love about the song, and that is the essential part for me." Her smoky vocals on the new album are sensual, and the arrangements are smart and sexy, while she and her supporting musicians have reimagined traditional jazz, pop, and country standards in a unique and unparalleled way, particularly focusing on songs by the New American Songbook's writers, such as Marty Balin, Peggy Lee, Hal David, Burt Bacharach, and Johnny Mercer. The Japanese edition will be released as a deluxe 2-CD set in SHM-CD format, coupling the 2021 live album "Montreal (Live)" with a special bonus live disc featuring two additional live tracks: Johnny Nash's hit "I Can See Clearly Now," recorded at Glenn Gould Studios in 2011, and "Calling You," recorded at a Montreal concert in 1995. The 2021 album "Montreal (Live)" captures a special concert held at the Lion d'Or cabaret in Montreal in 2019, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Montreal International Jazz Festival. Holly Cole reunited with original members David Pitch (bass) and Aaron Davis (piano) to perform as the Holly Cole Trio. This new album includes the six tracks from "Montreal (Live)" plus two additional live tracks that are still very popular in Japan, for a total of eight tracks.
