Contents: This is the deluxe edition of "David Bowie," released on June 1, 1967. It includes B-sides from singles and a rare version of "Space Oddity," the hit song that launched Bowie's career. The deluxe edition includes 16 additional tracks, in addition to the stereo mix of the original album produced by Mike Vernon. These include four songs that represent the first fruits of Bowie's long-standing collaboration with producer Tony Visconti: "Let Me Sleep Beside You," "Karma Man," "In the Heat of the Morning," and "London by Ta Ta." Years later, Bowie reflected on this debut album with his characteristic self-criticism, saying: "In terms of lyrics, it feels like I was struggling to become something. By 'something,' I mean a storyteller of short tales. Musically, it's a pretty strange piece. I have no idea what I was aiming for at the time. It seems like its roots are in many different places. Rock, vaudeville, music hall, things like that. I didn't even know myself if I wanted to be Max Miller or Elvis Presley."
