This recording ultimately became the culmination of Satchmo's musical career. From the moment Louis received a copy of this recording, he decided he wanted the whole world to hear this music. He played this tape every time he had visitors at his house. Louis attached a note that read "FOR THE FANS" to the outside of the tape box. The booklet includes liner notes by Ricky Riccardi, Louis Armstrong's biographer and head of research collections at the Louis Armstrong House Museum.
