John Williams is a legendary composer/conductor with a brilliant record, having been a top runner in Hollywood film music for over 50 years, winning 5 Academy Awards, 4 Golden Globe Awards, and most recently, the "Best Instrumental Composition" award at the 66th Grammy Awards, for a total of 26 Grammy Awards. This album includes the second half of the program, conducted by John Williams himself, featuring "Superman March" from the film "Superman," as well as pieces from films such as "Harry Potter" and "Star Wars," and the encore performance of "Raiders March" from the film "Raiders of the Lost Ark." Furthermore, the album includes all 12 tracks of "Tributes! (for Seiji)," conducted by St?phane Den?ve. "Tributes! (for Seiji)" was composed by John Williams in 1999 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Seiji Ozawa's appointment as music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and this is its world premiere release. John Williams came to Japan last September at the invitation of Seiji Ozawa for the "Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival," where Ozawa serves as general director, and for a special performance held in conjunction with the festival to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the prestigious classical music label, Deutsche Grammophon. Following collaborations with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Recording Arts Orchestra, this marks his first collaboration with the Saito Kinen Orchestra. Tickets for both performances were in high demand on the sales website and sold out immediately, generating significant buzz. John Williams and Seiji Ozawa have been close friends since Ozawa served as the 13th music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and organized the Tanglewood Music Festival in western Massachusetts. A collaboration between John Williams and the Saito Kinen Orchestra in Japan had been a long-held dream of Seiji Ozawa. The standard CD and LP editions will include 11 tracks conducted by John Williams, as well as "Tributes!
