Based in Chicago, he primarily performed with a trio, and his unique sense of rhythm and touch is known to have influenced Miles Davis. In addition, in later years, he was quick to recognize the talent of the then-unknown Hiromi Uehara while she was a student at Berklee College of Music, and helped her debut with Telarc. This reissue focuses on albums from the mid-1950s to early 1960s, primarily featuring the trio formation with the late, brilliant bassist Israel Crosby. Four of the ten titles are being released on CD in Japan for the first time. All titles are being released on SHM-CD for the first time. A unique quintet work adding violin and guitar to the regular trio. Enjoy the relaxed interplay and ensemble with the front instruments. First CD release in Japan.
