Based in Chicago, he primarily performed with a trio, and his unique sense of rhythm and touch is known to have influenced Miles Davis. In addition, in later years, he was quick to recognize the talent of the then-unknown Hiromi Uehara while she was a student at Berklee College of Music, and helped her debut with Telarc. This reissue focuses on albums from the mid-1950s to early 1960s, primarily featuring the trio formation with the late, brilliant bassist Israel Crosby. Four of the ten titles are being released on CD in Japan for the first time. All titles are being released on SHM-CD for the first time. These are valuable studio recordings for the Jamal Trio, which mostly consists of live recordings. A collection of relaxing and masterful performances featuring famous standards and two original compositions by Jamal. First CD release in Japan.
