Based in Chicago, he primarily performed with a trio, and his unique sense of rhythm and touch is known to have influenced Miles Davis. In addition, in later years, he was quick to recognize the talent of the then-unknown Hiromi Uehara while she was a student at Berklee College of Music, and helped her debut with Telarc. This reissue focuses on albums from the mid-1950s to early 1960s, primarily featuring the trio formation during the time when the late, brilliant bassist Israel Crosby was a member. Four of the ten titles are being released on CD in Japan for the first time. All titles are being released on SHM-CD for the first time. This is a chamber music-like album featuring the regular trio accompanied by a 15-piece string section conducted by Joe Kennedy. An elegant sound where sophisticated strings and cool piano blend together.
