This live album is the last recording by saxophonist Wayne Shorter, who passed away on March 2nd of this year at the age of 89. It features a performance from the Detroit Jazz Festival in September 2017, where he appeared with a special quartet featuring Terri Lyne Carrington, Esperanza Spalding, and Leo Genovese. The performance, dedicated to pianist Geri Allen, who passed away in June of the same year, is full of highly improvisational and magical interplay. The album was released in September 2022 by the Candido label and won "Best Jazz Instrumental Album" at the 65th Grammy Awards in February of this year. For the Japanese release, additional tracks previously only available on the analog version have been added.
