As a band that attracted attention as a representative of progressive rock, Fripp was under great pressure, but in a short period of time he wrote "Lizard," a symphonic epic with a duality of delicate beauty and wild dynamism. Fripp's unique sound, pushing the Mellotron to its limits and using it to its fullest as a melodic instrument, combined with the outstanding playing of Collins and the Tippett Group's horn players, creates a one-of-a-kind epic that is truly breathtaking! Due to excessive immersion in the production process, friction arose among the members, and the lineup fell apart upon its completion, making it a work that Fripp kept sealed away for a long time.
