A grand project created by the entire band reading the same story, connecting, and creating together amidst the pandemic. This is the third chapter of a new four-chapter project by the Tedeschi Trucks Band, a large blues-rock band led by Derek Trucks, one of the three greatest rock guitarists of the new generation, and Susan Tedeschi, a singer and guitarist with five Grammy nominations, following the success of last year's release "Layla Revisited." Unable to tour and isolated due to the pandemic, vocalist Mike Mathieson suggested that the members work on "Layla and Majnun," a poem by Nizami, a 12th-century Persian poet and the source of "Layla," as a way to stay connected with each other. This epic project, "I Am the Moon," began with everyone reading the same poem, writing songs based on it, and engaging in repeated sessions, eventually transforming into the most ambitious project of their careers. It's their fifth studio album and their first in three years since 2019's "Signs." Working together on a single universal theme, this collaborative work takes the band on a vast, exciting, and ambitious musical journey, encompassing rock, blues, New Orleans soul, psychedelia, roots music, and free jazz. It's packed with sounds only TTB, "the world's best live band," can deliver, not just on the guitar! Released consecutively over nearly four months, "I Am the Moon" consists of four chapters: "I. Crescent," "II. Ascension," "III. The Fall," and "IV. Farewell." Each release will accompany a video directed by Alix Lambert (The Mark of Cain, Bayou Blue and Mentor).
