This performance represents the culmination of Shoji's current experience and exploration of various styles. Also noteworthy is Sayaka Shoji's original cadenza, written in 2006. The coupling features another popular piece by Sibelius. This is the second recording by Russia's leading maestro, Yuri Temirkanov, and Russia's finest orchestra, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, following their 2012 recording of Prokofiev's concerto.
