This work, which was only distributed in very limited quantities at some tour venues and on her website at the beginning of her career, is a legendary work that, as the title suggests, compiles the first songs Norah recorded (2000). In addition to the first mix versions of the hit songs "Don't Know Why" and "Come Away With Me" that were included on her debut album "Norah Jones (original title: Come Away With Me)", it includes 6 valuable tracks, such as "Something Is Calling You" written by Jesse Harris and "Peace" written by Horace Silver, which are only included on this work. This "First Session" was well-received, leading to a formal contract with Blue Note. From May 2001, she recorded over 20 songs with Craig Street as producer. However, the president of Blue Note at the time disliked Craig's musical direction, and after making revisions, only three songs remained. Then, Arif Mardin, a renowned producer also famous for working with Diana Ross, Hall & Oates, and Donny Hathaway, skillfully compiled the songs from the "First Session" along with several covers to create her debut album, "Norah Jones" (released in 2002). Four songs from this album?"Don't Know Why," "Turn Me On," "Come Away With Me," and "Lone Star"?are included on "Norah Jones." The third song, "Something Is Calling You," was written by Jesse Harris and is not included on "Norah Jones," but it is included on the 2003 video release "Live in New Orleans." This song is being released on CD in Japan for the first time, but it's a familiar tune to fans, as it was also performed at her concerts in Japan this year. The sixth track, "Peace," is a song from Horace Silver's 1959 album "Blowin' the Blues Away," a pianist with strong ties to Blue Note Records.
