Ashby, who plays not only the harp but also the koto and marimba, weaves a spiritual, exotic, and uniquely grooved sound. This jazz-funk masterpiece expresses inspiration from the Rubaiyat, a collection of quatrains by Omar Khayyam, a poet who was active in 11th-12th century Persia. Produced by the brilliant Richard Evans, who made a name for himself in Sun Ra's band in the 1950s and worked on projects by Ramsey Lewis and Marlena Shaw at Cadet Records in the 1960s and 70s.
