After that, he played with the Hideo Shiraki Quintet before forming his own trio. After the trio disbanded, he worked as a composer, creating a vast number of commercial jingles, as well as music for films and television shows such as "The Inugami Family" and "Proof of the Man," producing many famous songs. His unique sound, full of lyricism and grand in scale, was a pioneer of the golden age of Japanese fusion. His representative work, the soundtrack for "Lupin the Third," caused a sensation in the late 1970s.
