[About the Label] East Wind is a groundbreaking jazz label that started in 1975 through the complete cooperation of Ai Music (at the time) and Nippon Phonogram (at the time). For about five years, they produced albums not only of Japanese musicians such as Masahiko Kikuchi, Sadao Watanabe, and Terumasa Hino, but also of musicians who were creatively active in the world jazz scene at the time. Beyond the quality of the performance, the artwork, created by top designers and photographers, was a fresh take on the image of jazz albums up to that point, and had a significant impact on subsequent record production. This is a Japanese recording of The Great Jazz Trio, recorded during their 1978 "Live Under the Sky" tour in Japan. It is the final work by the original members Hank Jones, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams, who had been active for over three years. All tracks are original compositions by the three.
