[About the Label] East Wind is a groundbreaking jazz label that started in 1975 through the complete cooperation of Ai Music (at the time) and Nippon Phonogram (at the time). For about five years, they produced albums not only of Japanese musicians such as Masahiko Kikuchi, Sadao Watanabe, and Terumasa Hino, but also of musicians who were creatively active in the world jazz scene at the time. Beyond the quality of the performance, the artwork, created by top designers and photographers, was a fresh take on the image of jazz albums up to that point, and had a significant impact on subsequent record production. This is a masterpiece in which the virtuoso Junior Mance delivers a funky and exhilarating performance with his close friends. In addition to standards such as "Love Is a Phoenix" and "God Bless the Child," he showcases a vibrant and groovy performance with his own gospel-like original compositions.
