To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the label's founding, 72 titles are being re-pressed in a limited edition for 1000 yen. *Uses DSD remastering. [About the Label] East Wind is a groundbreaking jazz label that started in 1975 through the complete cooperation of Ai Music (at the time) and Nippon Phonogram (at the time). For about five years, they produced albums not only of Japanese musicians such as Masahiko Kikuchi, Sadao Watanabe, and Terumasa Hino, but also of musicians who were creatively active in the world jazz scene at the time. Beyond the quality of the performance, the artwork, created by top designers and photographers, was a fresh take on the image of jazz albums up to that point, and had a significant impact on subsequent record production. This is the first leader album in 12 years from Ronnie Matthews, a talented pianist who played with Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers. He plays famous songs such as "Black Orpheus" with great energy. In addition, he re-records his own composition "Ichiban," which describes his impressions of Japan and was also included on the 1963 album "Doin' the Sang!" (Prestige), in an up-tempo style.
