Product Description
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of Contemporary Records, a leading West Coast label, in 2026, 28 representative SHM-CDs originally released for the label's 60th anniversary are being re-pressed for a limited time. This is an early masterpiece by Cecil Taylor, the "fighter of free jazz," whose 1955 debut album, "Jazz Advance," caused a sensation. The bold performances that caused a great stir at the time now sound like orthodox jazz. Nevertheless, the pioneering spirit of the performances recorded on this work has not faded in the slightest.
