Product Description
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of Contemporary Records, a leading West Coast label, in 2026, 28 representative SHM-CDs of the label's works, originally released for its 60th anniversary, are being re-pressed for a limited time. This is the striking debut album of Hampton Hawes, a renowned pianist who, despite living on the West Coast, gained popularity with his hard-hitting touch reminiscent of East Coast artist Bud Powell. The opening track, "I Got Rhythm," is particularly known as one of his greatest performances. His bluesy touch was rare on the West Coast.
