Japan-only release Japan-only CD includes one bonus track Graham Bonnet, the solitary and extraordinary vocalist who represents the HR/HM world, after joining Rainbow and the Michael Schenker Group (MSG), In 1983, the newly formed band "Alcatrazz" shocked the world. Graham, drawing on the foundation of former New England members Gary Shea (bass) and Jimmy Waldo (keyboards), recruited former Steeler guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen, and Jan Uvena, known for his work with Alice Cooper, joined on drums, thus Alcatrazz was born. On their debut album, "No Parole From Rock 'n' Roll" (1983), Graham's astonishing high-pitched vocals were certainly impressive, but it was Yngwie's guitar playing that amazed music fans and guitarists worldwide. He played melodic, stylistic phrases incorporating elements of classical music at an overwhelming speed, and revolutionized the history of guitar playing with his sweep picking technique utilizing broken chords. After the release of "LIVE SENTENCE" (1984), which recorded their first performance in Japan, Yngwie Malmsteen left the band. He was replaced by Steve Vai (G), who had made a name for himself working with Frank Zappa. They released their second album, "DISTURBING THE PEACE" (1985), and returned to Japan to great acclaim, but were then faced with a crisis when Steve Vai left. They then welcomed Danny Johnson (G) and completed their third album, "DANGEROUS GAMES," but unfortunately, it did not sell as well as they had hoped, and they disbanded in 1987. This album is a live recording of their performance in Japan under the name Alcatrazz, held on March 16, 2017, at Shibuya TSUTAYA O-EAST. The newly reformed Alcatrazz, consisting of original members Graham, Gary, and Jimmy, plus Graham Bonnet Band members Conrad Pessinato (G) and Mark Benkechea (D), performed a live setlist featuring the best tracks from their three original albums, electrifying the packed audience. While Conrad Pessinato's solid recreation of the challenging guitar playing from the Yngwie Malmsteen and Vai era, while incorporating original phrasing, is noteworthy, the real highlight is Graham's husky, super-high-pitched vocals at the age of 69! His power to sing these classic songs with the same volume and passion as in his prime is simply awe-inspiring.
