Empire State Bastard is an extreme metal band formed by Simon Neil of the Scottish monster rock act Biffy Clyro and Mike Vennart, former frontman of Oceansize and now a touring member of Biffy Clyro. Simon Neil and Mike Vennart needed to find the best band members to create their ideal band, influenced by Siege, Melvins, Mike Patton, and of course, Slayer. Having struggled to find band members, they eventually approached Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Fantomas, Suicidal Tendencies) himself, who joined the band. The band was then completed with the addition of Naomi Macleod of Bitch Falcon on bass.
