Content Introduction The release of the third installment in Tatsuro Yamashita's renowned "COME ALONG" series, a hidden gem among his discography, has been decided! "COME ALONG" was originally an analog record produced in the summer of 1979 for promotional purposes, intended for in-store playback at record shops. The idea came not from Tatsuro Yamashita himself, but from the record company staff at the time. Side A was in the style of a disco DJ of the time, and Side B was a recreation of a Hawaiian radio station. DJ Katsuya Kobayashi interspersed between Tatsuro Yamashita's songs, creating a non-stop mix, making it a very club-like and radio-style item. Initially produced solely for promotional purposes, when the record was played in stores, inquiries from fans flooded in, and the record company received numerous requests for an official release. However, Tatsuro Yamashita was hesitant to release this work as part of his official catalog, and it was only released on cassette in March 1980, which became "COME ALONG." "COME ALONG" was later released on LP and CD, and in 1984, a sequel, "COME ALONG II," was also released. The unique world of Hawaii and summer evoked by Katsuya Kobayashi's DJing, combined with the jacket illustration by Eiji Suzuki, made it a hidden gem and highly regarded by fans, and a sequel was eagerly awaited as a representative summer masterpiece. Although Tatsuro Yamashita is now associated with winter due to one of his signature songs, "Christmas Eve," he was previously famous as the epitome of summer songs, with people saying, "It's summer! It's the sea! It's Tatsuro!" In 2016, Tatsuro Yamashita's latest single, "CHEER UP! THE SUMMER," became a smash hit as his first summer song in a long time, and the project for "COME ALONG 3" was launched based on a selection of songs that evoked summer.
