Product Description
This ninth original album, produced by Rick Rubin, is their first double album. From the 38 tracks recorded, 28 were carefully selected and released as a double album. Befitting its space-themed artwork, the album is divided into DISC-1 (JUPITER) and DISC-2 (MARS). The first single, "Danny California," is a powerful, melodic, medium-tempo funk number. Other notable tracks include up-tempo, positive funk numbers such as "Charlie," "21st Century," "Come On Girl," and "Tell Me Baby." These tracks clearly demonstrate the band's excellent form. One of the album's defining characteristics is its strong funk influence, including "Readymade," which is reminiscent of "Blood Sugar Sex Magik." Another notable feature of this album is the strong emphasis on John's guitar solos, such as "Hey," where his bluesy guitar playing shows a new side of him, and the dramatically unfolding "Wet Sand." (2006 release) Includes liner notes and lyrics translation.
