"Chikawa" started as a post on X (formerly Twitter) by illustrator Nagano. Since its serialization began in 2020, it has rapidly expanded in popularity, becoming widespread throughout Japan with numerous goods and collaborations. Its popularity continues to grow, winning the "Japan Character Award Grand Prix" three times, and the total number of views of the short anime series, which began airing in 2022, on YouTube has exceeded 400 million, making it a popular content loved not only in Japan but all over the world. The soundtrack CD for "Chikawa: The Secret of the Mermaid Island," the first movie featuring "Chikawa," will be released on July 24th (Friday)!
