This popular series thoroughly traces the Beatles' journey through sound in chronological order, including officially recorded studio recordings, unreleased outtakes and songs that have not been officially released. Volume 7 begins with recordings from April 1966, when production of the album "Revolver" started. The previous year, they had achieved great success with live tours at large venues such as Shea Stadium, and their starring film was also a huge hit. The Beatles' idol popularity exploded, but they were dissatisfied with their stage activities where their playing was drowned out by the screams of the audience. Conversely, having spent a month holed up in the studio working on the album "Rubber Soul," they had expanded their musical expression through the ability to use multi-track recording, and it was only natural that their explosive creativity and mindset would be directed more toward studio work than live performances with inadequate sound equipment. In addition, the Beatles were keenly responsive to the Beatnik and Flower movements, the cutting-edge art and fashion that were beginning to permeate London, and the wave of drug culture. Recording began in April, and new songs were born one after another from the very first day, when they recorded John's "Tomorrow Never Knows." On the second day, they recorded Paul's "Got to Get You Into My Life," which would become the origin of brass rock. And "Love You To," which could be called the first raga rock in pop history, was the culmination of George's Indian influences. "Paperback Writer," which features a solid bass sound made possible by advances in recording technology, and "Rain," which incorporates reverse playback, were just some of the "rock inventions of 1966" that they were making. Furthermore, on "Eleanor Rigby," they entrusted everything to a string octet accompaniment written by George Martin, completing the song without any instrumental performance by the band members. This decision was surprising coming from the Beatles, whose identity had always been based on self-composition and self-performance. Even with the success of "Yesterday," their boldness is astonishing. In the name of music production, the Beatles were truly clever. This production of "Revolver" is presented in chronological order of recording dates, allowing listeners to experience how this masterpiece was born. As a bonus, two tracks from the 1967 film "The Family Way," with Paul McCartney's score and George Martin's production, are included. The arrangement techniques used here would later lead to their next album, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."
