This series thoroughly traces the Beatles' journey through sound in chronological order, including all of their officially recorded studio recordings, outtakes, and unreleased songs. The first volume begins with "That'll Be The Day" in July 1958, goes through the Polydor sessions in 1961, and thoroughly covers the early Beatles' struggles towards their debut, from their unsuccessful Decca audition on New Year's Day 1962 to their first recording with EMI in June. While touring Hamburg, they served as the backing band for Tony Sheridan's recording for Polydor Germany, where Sheridan was playing at the same club. Their song "My Bonnie" became a number 5 hit in Germany. Sheridan's backing band was named the "Beat Brothers," and in the past, recordings with members other than the Beatles were released as "pre-Beatles performances!", causing some confusion. However, after careful verification, this release includes only performances by the Beatles. John's rendition of "Ain't She Sweet" can be considered a genuine Beatles performance. Following the success of "My Bonnie," Brian Epstein, owner of the Liverpool record store "NEMS," became their manager for their Decca audition on New Year's Day 1962. They were unexpectedly unsuccessful, but this is a classic pre-debut recording that still shines brightly today. All 15 tracks are included here in stereo master. Then came the recording session for EMI, which also served as an audition. The recordings of "Love Me Do" and "Besame Mucho" with Pete Best on drums were recorded. At this point, the decision was made to change the lineup. Ringo Starr joined the band, and Granada TV recorded "Some Other Guy" at the Cavern Club, but Paul's vocals were not picked up, so it was re-recorded later. This is the black and white footage of them in white shirts and vests that you often see on TV and in the news. In September 1962, recordings were made for the single "Love Me Do" with Ringo. "How Do You Do It," prepared by George Martin, was also recorded, but it was re-recorded again. Up to this point, the content is rich in musical detail, following the Beatles' days leading up to their debut with EMI. After days filled with live performances with John, Paul, George, and Pete Best (drums), Ringo joined the band. The energetic and raw playing of the young Beatles was unique to this period.
