This sixth installment in the series, which has delivered all of their recordings in chronological order from their pre-debut recordings, begins with the recording at Chess Studios in Chicago, USA, on May 10, 1965. In the re-recording of "Mercy, Mercy," which had been shelved the previous year, they broke free from the constraints of the Don Covay version (with Jimi Hendrix on guitar) and found a breakthrough in a sticky arrangement with sharp snare drums and heavy bass intertwined with Keith and Brian's guitars, thanks to Jack Nitzsche's Wall of Sound, a master of P. Spector's techniques. The sound that is unmistakably "The Stones!" began here. The following day at RCA Studios, "Satisfaction" was finally born. The intro begins with Keith blaring on a Gibson fuzz box. "We try and try and we can't get it right. Hey hey hey!" shouts Mick. It was the moment a historic number that pointed the way forward for rock was born. That day, they also recorded Otis Redding's "I Love You So Much," skillfully incorporating the same fuzz guitar. This version was later released on a live album with crowd cheers added to create a pseudo-live sound, but here it is the original studio version. The US album "Out of Our Heads," which was completed in this way, also became a hit. Amidst the fervent popularity and non-stop live tours, their next single, "Get Off of My Cloud," which released adrenaline-fueled anger with the lyrics "Hey you. Get out of my cloud!", also became a huge hit. They solidified their position as enfant terribles?the voice of the rebellious youth generation. In between, they had sessions with Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page in London. This volume includes valuable unreleased recordings, such as their attempt at James Brown's ballad "Try Me." "As Tears Go By," originally written for Marianne Faithfull, is also recorded by the Stones with Keith's 12-string acoustic guitar and strings as the backing band. This must-listen sixth volume encompasses all the recordings from May to October 1965, showcasing the Stones' momentum and confidence following their global success with "Satisfaction."
