Detailed Japanese commentary. Eternal Grooves' popular series delivers unreleased studio recordings and rare live performances of The Beatles. This is a collection of alternate studio versions of 'Revolver', a masterpiece album representing The Beatles' mid-career. Released in August 1966, 'Revolver' utilized advanced recording techniques such as reverse playback and looping, and the lyrics also ventured into new territory influenced by the drug culture of the time. With their leadership, pop music transformed into rock. This is a collection of alternate versions and making-of recordings of that masterpiece. The album's opening track, George's "Taxman," is a funky rock song with a sarcastic jab at the British tax system, but it features a French mono recording without the bizarre opening sound effect and an acetate mix where Paul's guitar solo at the end of the song is missing. "I'm Only Sleeping," with John's languid vocals, includes both mono and stereo versions of the US original recording, which features a different reversed guitar phrase. The beautiful "Here, There And Everywhere," a Paul composition praised by John himself, also includes a rare recording from the overdubbing process. "She Said She Said" is a home demo by John alone. "And Your Bird Can Sing" is an early arrangement version with a sparkling 12-string electric guitar reminiscent of The Byrds, and includes a take without John and Paul's laughter like on the "Anthology" album, as well as an acetate mix where the twin guitars play a wrong note at the end. "Doctor Robert" is a mono mix where you can hear John say "OK, Fab" at the end. Also included is the legendary "Matrix 1 mix," which was accidentally shipped only with the first pressing of the UK mono version, and is characterized by its intense, trippy sound that makes extensive use of tape loops. From the singles released around the same time as the album, you can hear Take 1 of "Paperback Writer," which stops midway, and the rougher Take 2, and "Rain" is also an alternate mix with John's vocals being more prominent. Compared to other albums, there are fewer outtakes unearthed for "Revolver," but this includes making-of audio that lets you hear what it was like during the recording, allowing you to relive the production process of this historic album. It is said that there are three different mixes of "Tomorrow Never Knows" and four different mixes of "I'm Only Sleeping," so listening to it with a research book that introduces different mixes of Beatles songs in hand will make it even more enjoyable.
