The ninth installment of Eternal Grooves' popular Beatles session recording collection finally arrives at "Magical Mystery Tour." In April 1967, just four days after finishing the recording of the masterpiece "Sgt. Pepper's," they quickly began recording their next new song, "Magical Mystery Tour." The psychedelic era. This book thoroughly tracks the studio work of the Beatles, who were at the forefront of this era, with precious takes. It's extraordinary that they started recording their next work just four days after the master of the album "Sgt. Pepper's" was completed, even before it was released. It shows just how much the Beatles', and especially Paul's, creative drive had exploded. The recording of the song "Magical Mystery Tour" began on April 25th. The song's concept was conceived with the image of a "mysterious bus trip with no destination." Starting from the basic track, the brass section was gradually overdubbed to complete the song. The overdubbed sounds of a bus passing by and braking suggest that it was created with television footage in mind from the beginning. In May, recording for the animated film "Yellow Submarine" also began simultaneously, adding to their busy schedule. Perhaps because of this, they couldn't secure EMI Studios, so they recorded "Baby Your Rich Man" at Olympic Studios, a studio favored by the Rolling Stones, and George Harrison's "It's All Too Much" at De Lain Lee Studios, a stronghold of Jimi Hendrix and The Who. On May 17th, they also began recording the eccentric "You Know My Name," but the song's development was so chaotic that it never came together, and they had to wait three years before releasing it. Furthermore, on June 25th, the Beatles were tasked with announcing a new song on the worldwide television broadcast "Our World," but they were still recording for the movie "Yellow Submarine" until the last minute, and only began working on the new song 11 days before the broadcast. That song was "All You Need Is Love," written by John. In the basic track with John playing the harpsichord, the French national anthem intro is not yet present. Finally, the day of the live broadcast arrives. During the warm-up, you can hear John singing "She Loves You, Yeah Yeah Yeah." That wasn't an ad-lib; he had decided to sing it beforehand. In addition to such precious recordings, the unedited live broadcast version of "All You Need Is Love" is also included. It was the era of psychedelia and drug culture. In London, the Beatles were at the forefront of the world. This release includes studio session recordings from April 25th, immediately after "Sgt. Pepper's," to June 25th. Following this, Brian Epstein suddenly passed away in August, and the Beatles resolved to manage everything themselves. This release includes Japanese liner notes detailing the situation, anecdotes, and track listings from that time. It's available as a standard edition from Eternal Grooves.
