To commemorate the 45th anniversary of their debut and the return of Saxon, a leading NWOBHM band from the UK, to Japan for the first time in 14 years, three previously unreleased titles are being released in Japan as double albums! The landmark 20th album, released in 2012! A masterpiece born from the collaboration of Andy Sneap, who continues to contribute as the band's producer, and Biff, with a hard sound that further pushes the European power metal direction of their previous work! Disc 2 includes five tracks of past hits, re-recorded and recorded in orchestral and acoustic versions! The year after the release of 'Call To Arms' in 2011, the band quickly began working on their next album. In March 2012, Biff Byford announced that the band already had ideas for the next album and had started writing and arranging songs. Furthermore, in July, footage of the members' studio jam session for the album was released on YouTube. Then, in August, it was announced that recording would begin, and it was revealed that Andy Sneap, who had worked with ACCEPT and NEVERMORE, would be participating for the first time. Andy handled the mixing and mastering, while vocalist Biff was in charge of production. Andy's mixing work was completed in October. The band then announced the album title, "Sacrifice," and tour dates. In February, the music video for the title track "Sacrifice" was released, and the album was released on March 1, 2013. The CD deluxe edition included a bonus disc with re-recorded versions of five Saxon classic songs. These five tracks are also included in the commemorative edition released for this Japan tour. After the album's release, a world tour was held. The tour started in the United States, with an appearance at the Monsters of Rock cruise, followed by performances in South America. In April, a UK tour was held, followed by European performances, including a headlining appearance at the Bang Your Head festival in Germany and an appearance at Hellfest in France. Compared to 2011's "Call to Arms," ??"Sacrifice" has a heavier metal feel, and perhaps influenced by Andy Sneap, heavy and speedy guitar work is featured throughout, which was well-received.
