To commemorate the 45th anniversary of their debut and the first Japanese performance in 14 years by Saxon, the British HR/HM band and a leading force in the NWOBHM, three previously unreleased titles in Japan are being released as double albums! The 19th album, released in 2011! This album, a cover of "Kitchener Recruitment" from World War I, is a powerful work created with the aim of "returning to their working-class sound"! Don Airey also participates on keyboards! Disc 2 contains 7 tracks from their performance at the first "Monsters of Rock" held at Donington Park in England in 1980! In 2010, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 1980 "Monsters of Rock," Saxon performed a live rendition of their entire "Wheel of Steel" album, and carried that momentum into recording this album, "Call to Arms," ??in February 2011. For this album, Biff aimed to return to the band's roots and create a more working-class sound. The album cover is a reference to a British recruitment poster from World War I, "Lord Kitchener Wants You." "When Doomsday Comes (Hybrid Theory)" from this album was written for the British film "Hybrid Theory," directed by James Erskine, which follows British soldiers caught in a life-or-death battle against an unimaginable enemy. Furthermore, for "Back In '79," a return to the roots of 1979, the year the NWOBHM was born, fans were invited to the recording studio to record the chorus. In addition, Don Airey, former Rainbow and current Deep Purple veteran, participates as a guest keyboard player on this album, contributing to its heavy soundscape. Two songs from the album, "Hammer Of The Gods" and "Call To Arms," ??had music videos produced for them, and the album debuted at number 6 on the UK Rock Charts. The album features five members: Biff Byford (vocals), Paul Quinn (guitar), Doug Scarlatt (guitar), Nibs Carter (bass), and Nigel Glockler (drums), who rejoined the band in 2005. This release commemorating their visit to Japan also includes a bonus disc featuring seven tracks from their 1980 performance at Castle Donington's "Monsters Of Rock," which were originally included with the North American digipak edition.
