In 2024, Atlantis Drive, a melodic hard rock band featuring legendary singer Mark Boals (Yngwie Malmsteen, Ring of Fire, etc.), will make its debut! The band was formed with the nostalgic goal of celebrating and reviving 80s melodic rock, centered around German guitarist Markus Pfeffer. The members are Mark, Markus on guitar and bass, French keyboard player Joris Guilbaud, and drummer Markus Kuruman, who has extensive experience with bands such as Glenn Hughes and Sinner. Mark Boals, previously celebrated as one of the greatest vocalists in the power metal scene, has completed an album packed with incredibly catchy and hook-filled melodic numbers, likely his first time participating in a full-fledged melodic hard rock band. While Mark has sung melodic rock numbers in various projects, this may be his first time working with a full-fledged melodic rock band. Marcus and Joris composed the songs, while Mark wrote all the lyrics. The themes of the lyrics are as interesting as the songs themselves. From the nostalgic reminiscences of "Way Back When," to "Faith" about self-confidence, "Time" about the finiteness of the self, "Curtain Falls," "Medusa Smile" about betrayal, and the epic 8.5-minute closing number "Heroes," he sings of his feelings for the musical heroes who have influenced him, covering a wide range of topics.
