UK band Dry Cleaning, whose music spans from 80s punk to No Wave, releases their latest album in 2026! Dry Cleaning, a band that carries on the legacy of spoken word, consisting of Florence Shaw (vocals), Tom Dows (guitar), Nick Buxton (drums), and Louis Maynard (bass), releases their 3rd album, 'Secret Love', on 4AD. Produced by Cate Le Bon, who also worked on Horsegirl's album 'Phonetics On and On', the album also features contributions from Alan Duggan and Daniel Fox of Gila Band. Born from deep friendship among its members, Dry Cleaning's "Secret Love" represents the pinnacle of their expression. The band immerses themselves in the avant-garde of rock, using the obsessive atmosphere of the Reagan era reflected in early 1980s American punk and hardcore as a catalyst. They fuse Keith Richards-esque, dry guitar riffs, stoner rock, dystopian decadence, playful no wave, and pastoral fingerpicking. Furthermore, Florence's spoken-word vocals meticulously respond to the soundscapes woven by her bandmates, placing herself within the lineage of spoken word, from Laurie Anderson to Sue Tompkins of Life Without Buildings. Following "Stumpwork," "Secret Love" began in Peckham's rehearsal space. All four members wrote, played, and responded to each other in the same room?for Dry Cleaning, music and lyrics are inseparable, organically born as a single whole. "Secret Love" evolved through enriching sessions at Jeff Tweedy's studio, The Loft, in Chicago, and explosive sessions at Sonic Studios in Dublin with Alan Duggan and Daniel Fox of Gila Band, fully utilizing the acoustic characteristics of each space. It was finally completed at Black Box in the Loire Valley with Kate Le Bon. After interviewing several potential producers, the band chose Kate Le Bon. She is a highly acclaimed solo artist who has also worked with artists such as Deerhunter, Devendra Banhart, Wilco, and Horsegirl. The reason for this choice was her frank positivity and open attitude. Kate said, "When I was in the same room as them and heard the life and energy flowing through the space, I knew it was a truly unique expression." 01. Hit My Head All Day 02. Cruise Ship Designer 03.
