Product Description "This is the best we can do." Pulp releases their long-awaited new album, 'More,' after approximately 24 years! Pulp, one of the bands that shines brightly in music history as a representative of the 90s Britpop scene, and who headlined rockin'on sonic held at Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall at the beginning of 2025, releases their new album 'More,' their first in approximately 24 years, via Rough Trade Records. Pulp makes their comeback with the highly addictive anthem "Spike Island." This song features a combination of synthesizers, violins, and slide guitars, further refined by producer James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Fontaines D.C.). The lyrics are based on the experiences of Jason Buckle (Relaxed Muscle), who co-wrote the song. Buckle had attended a Stone Roses concert at the infamous Spike Island, where the DJ kept yelling "Spike Island, come alive!" all day long, irritating everyone. This story stuck with Jarvis Cocker, and even though he didn't attend the concert himself, it inspired him to write a new song about Spike Island. A message from Jarvis about the "Spike Island" video: "Someone was interested in AI and asked if I had any ideas. The first thing that came to mind was 'Different The idea was to bring to life the photos Rankin and Donald took for 'Class'. Those photos were originally a way to "artificially" place us into real-world landscapes in 1995, as we were too busy with music production to take photos ourselves, so it was a way to finish the album cover. It was a natural idea. Initially, I thought about making a kind of "making-of" video showing how the photos were taken. But when I loaded the first image into the AI ??app, I realized that wasn't going to work. So I decided to "let it go" and let the computer guide me. All the moving images in this video are based on still images I imported, for example, "the black and white figures remain still while the bus in the background drives away." It was generated by inputting prompts (instructions). And that's how that scene came about, where the bus slides towards my cutout in a strange way. The weekend I started making this video was a strange feeling. Even when I went outside, I couldn't help but feel that the surrounding environment was distorted because of the AI-generated imagery. That experience had a strong impact on me. I'm not even sure if I've returned to normal yet... I'd like to thank Julian House for the amazing post-production. And I'd like to thank Rankin and Donald Milne for letting me use their work in this way. As I wrote in the text at the end of the video, what they did for Pulp in 1995 was "H.I. (Human I think it's the pinnacle of intelligence (human intelligence). One last thing: H.I. forever! With love, Jarvis A message from Jarvis about 'More': "This is Pulp's first album since 'We Love Life' in 2001. That's right, it's been 24 years since the last new album. How did that come about? Actually, when we resumed touring in 2023, we were practicing a new song called 'The Hymn of the North' in between soundchecks. And then, Sheffield They performed it at the end of their second show at the Arena. That opened a new door. Then, throughout the first half of 2024, songs for the album were created one after another. Some of them revived ideas they had been developing since the last century. One was composed by Richard Hawley. Another by Jason Buckle. The Eno family (Brian Eno and others) provided backing vocals on one track. Richard Jones handled the string arrangements, which were performed by the Elysian Collective. The recording took place in 202 It took place over three weeks from November 18th, 1939, in Walthamstow, London. It's the shortest album in Pulp's history to be completed. Perhaps it was meant to be. That's the truth. I hope you enjoy this album. This work was created by four people from northern England, with the help of five friends from all over the UK. No AI was used at all.
