They debuted in the late 1970s, coinciding with the punk movement. Their first album, "Night Beast's House," reached number 4 on the UK charts and earned them the first gold disc for a punk band. Subsequent albums, "No More Heroes" and "Black & White," both reached number 2 on the UK charts. In Japan, they enjoy a strong following among enthusiastic fans, and their leader and bassist, Jean-Jacques Burnel, is a Japanophile and holds a 7th dan in karate. They have performed four solo concerts in Japan and have appeared at major festivals such as Summer Sonic and Punkspring. In 2019, they held their first solo concert in Japan in 27 years, organized by Abandam. In 2024, they will finally celebrate their 50th anniversary, and even more ambitious activities are expected from them.
