Seven years after her album "Tara Jane O'Neil," which focused more on "song" and showcased her rich talent as a singer-songwriter, Tara Jane O'Neil has finally completed her 10th original solo album, having overcome numerous hardships and losses, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the deaths of family and friends, and the burning down of her home in the Thomas wildfire that struck California. Since her last album, O'Neill has released a number of works, including the original soundtrack for Nanako Hirose's directorial debut "The Dawn," collaborations with Marisa Anderson, and a deluxe edition commemorating the 20th anniversary of her first album "Peregrine." However, with guest appearances from Sheridan Riley of Alvvays, Walt McClements (known for his collaborations with Mary Lattimore), Meg Duffy of Hand Habits, and Marisa Anderson, this album fully showcases the new network O'Neill has cultivated on the US West Coast where she resides in recent years. The minimalist, psychedelic, and spiritual soundscapes and tough ensemble that have emerged from this network represent a new step forward and an endeavor of solidarity that Tara Jane O'Neill has taken. While incorporating O'Neill's recent musical tastes in ambient jazz, minimal music, and electronic music, what remains most memorable is her voice and guitar tone. Please feel the acceptance of grief and the determination to move forward, as well as the unwavering gaze toward reconstruction, in "The Cool Cloud of Okayness."
