Introduction The original soundtrack for the new film "Remembering Every Night" (26th PFF Scholarship film) by director Yui Kiyohara, which has received high praise at the Berlin International Film Festival and the Beijing International Film Festival, and was released in North America last year (2023), attracting attention not only in Japan but also overseas, will be released in Japan on March 2nd (Saturday) (@Shibuya Eurospace, distributed by PFF). The music is mainly handled by John Sun, a group that has transformed into a group of 12 musicians with diverse backgrounds and has recently been working on stage productions such as comedy sketches, and ASUNA, an electronic musician/sound artist who is currently in high demand at overseas festivals for works such as "100 Keyboards" and "Falling Sweets / Afternoon Membranophone". Furthermore, for the dance music in the film, ESV, a hip-hop group to which mado (also a member of John's Sun) belongs, and mado & supertotes, who composed the music for director Yui Kiyohara's short film "Light in March," provided impressive tracks. Recorded in various locations including Aichi, Tokyo, Estonia, and Kanazawa from 2022 onwards, this album was produced as a soundtrack, but even after the film's completion, each member continued to create their own interpretations of the story, resulting in a wonderfully varied album of 40 tracks, including some that couldn't be included in the film. The members of John's Sun participated in various ways, each composing their own songs, and ASUNA, a long-time acquaintance, also joined in as a member of John's Sun, creating a new chemical reaction between the two that wouldn't normally occur, resulting in many exquisite collaborative tracks. The recording was handled by Matsuishi Geru of The Syrup, who has also been active as a member of PANICSMILE in recent years, for two sessions in Aichi. In Tokyo, Hayashiya Hideaki, who runs the live music venue Nanahachi, served as the engineer. Furthermore, additional recordings were made at the electronic music studio e?lektron in Estonia, where ASUNA was staying for an extended period at the time (2022), and mixing and mastering work was done in Kanazawa after her return to Japan. The album's track order follows the chronological order of the film, allowing listeners to relive the experience after watching the movie, while also creating a cohesive narrative experience as a standalone album. It's a collection of music that can be thoroughly enjoyed as a new work from both John's Sun and ASUNA. Currently, there are about 12 members in total, and the participants and their respective instruments change depending on the time. Aside from musical works, since 2021, she has produced, directed, and performed in four comedy shows, and since 2022, she has been working on two film scores in parallel, with "People Who Talk to Stuffed Animals Are Kind" being released in 2023 and "Remembering All the Nights" in 2024. ESV is a group of four people: Nashi, Tango, mado, and Moddkoi, who create music and perform live. mado & supertotes mainly use PCs and GRANDMOTHER. They composed the music for the short film "Light in March" directed by Yui Kiyohara, released in 2021. ASUNA is a Japanese electronic musician from Ishikawa Prefecture. She creates works that focus on the concept of things and their re-examination, reflecting on their etymology. At the same time, she also creates and performs art related to the physical phenomena of sound. His representative works include "Each Organ" (2002), which re-examines the organ from the etymology of the word "organ," focusing on its original meaning of "mechanism" or "organ," and "Epidermis of Beech" (2012), a work that deals with the recording and transportation of information, based on the beech tree as the etymology of the word "book." In recent years, his work "100 Keyboards" (2013), which focuses on the complex distribution of interference sounds and moir? resonance, has received numerous invitations to exhibit and perform at overseas art festivals such as the Melbourne International Festival for Arts (2018), the Singapore International Festival for Arts (2019), and the Belfast International Festival for Arts (2019). Last year, he was also invited by the prestigious Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) in New York, where he successfully held a sold-out solo concert. In parallel with his music production, he has been involved in Tokyo's experimental music/improvisation/sound scene since his teens, creating compositions and improvisational performances using various acoustic instruments and PCs. He has also focused on performances using countless toy instruments and electronic music, such as "100 Toys" (2007), and his recorded works consistently feature diverse concepts. He has performed and exhibited in over 25 countries, and released CDs and records. He has also collaborated with German electronic musician Jan Jelinek, artist Sato Minoru-m/s, and trackmaker shibata for many years. He is currently on an international tour with his new album, "Falling Sweets / Afternoon Membranophone."
