(C)RS About the Artist [Crooks and Ink Records] The Crooks were a new wave band formed in 1978, centered around Mike Schmid, who ran the graphic design and recording studio Ink Studios in D?sseldorf. Schmid then established Ink Records, which released not only Crooks' music but also that of artists like Reifenstahl and Don Bartnick, becoming one of the labels that symbolized the local music scene. The Crooks, led by Schmid, released two albums before ceasing activities in 1982. Ink Records later transitioned to the "Producentenklub" label, which quickly became a hub for the next generation of musicians, including the band that would later become Mouse on Mars. However, most of the recordings held by both labels remained unreleased for decades after Schmidt's sudden death in 1993.
