CD release is Japan only + a special 2-disc set including the first collaboration from 2008 (first release in Japan)! *The series 'A Crow Looked At Me' (2017) & 'Now Only' (2018) by Mount Iari-Phil Elverum were created in quick succession, themed around the death of his beloved partner who passed away just a year and a half after the birth of their first child. Both albums, which Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes described as "creating emotions never before heard," are characterized by their highly personal lyrics and restrained sound that extracts the beauty of melodies to the extreme. They received overwhelming acclaim from the media, artists, and audiences, and in Japan, they achieved the highest sales of his career, including his time with his predecessor, The Microphones. Following a stunning Japanese tour in April 2018 featuring tracks from the 'Crow' series, Elverum temporarily suspended his musical activities. *However, as he himself wrote in the US liner notes for this album, "nothing stays the same," Elverum has returned with new music after undergoing several personal (and very significant) changes. Joining him as a co-producer is Julie Dwaron, a recipient of the Juno Awards (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys) and Elverum's musical idol since his time with Sub Pop's first Canadian band, Eric Trip, possessing a deeply soulful voice. This album, titled "Part 2" to the acclaimed 2008 album "Lost Wisdom" (also featuring Dwaron as a duet partner), also tells the aftermath of the "Crow" series. Even after a long time has passed since their previous collaboration (a Pitchfork "Best New Music" award winner), considered one of the most intimate, melodic, and minimalist works in The Microphones/Mount Ealy and Elverum's long careers, and their wonderful joint set during the 2010 Japan tour, the beauty of their restrained voices, melodies, and harmonies, and their sense of weightlessness, remain intact. This quietly moving work is both the final chapter of the "Crow" series and a new starting point. *Similar to Mount Ealy's recent works, this album is only available in analog and digital formats outside of Japan; the CD release is Japan-exclusive. Furthermore, it's a two-disc set including "Lost Wisdom" (Part 1), which was not released in Japan at the time of its 2008 release, as a bonus disc. Both albums include lyric translations.
