Content Introduction The highly anticipated London city-pop band PREP has finally completed their long-awaited 1st album. Despite only releasing EPs, they gained explosive popularity, mainly in Asia, and have made two visits to Japan, including Summer Sonic 2019, attracting significant attention. This is the long-awaited first full-length, self-titled album from the London four-piece city-pop band PREP. After years of production, this album fully expresses the band as a whole while also reflecting their diverse backgrounds. Their artistic sensibilities are on par with those of artists PREP members have worked with over the years, such as AlunaGeorge, George Fitzgerald, Kasabian, and Celeste. From their first single "Pictures Of You," which blends funk, soul, and pop elements to sing of a long-distance romance, to their second single "On and On," which starts as a romantic, slow love song and transforms into a heart-wrenching track about longing for someone through the effective use of synthesizers, they continue to build upon their urban, mellow, and nostalgic elements while absorbing modern elements from their close friends Cory Wong of Vulfpeck (who has previously contributed to PREP's music), Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Thundercat, Tyler the Creator, Mac DeMarco, and others, developing a funktronic, synthetic, and exciting sound. Having started their activities in 2015 and debuted in 2016 as an enigmatic band, they have steadily gained support with the quality of their music and addictive live performances, and this is their first album, showcasing their maturity as a band. The Japanese edition includes "Over ft. Anna of the North" and "Love Breaks Down" as bonus tracks, which were digitally released in early 2020 and also released as a limited edition 7-inch single as part of CITY POP on VINYL 2020. About the Artist: This quartet boasts diverse backgrounds and undeniable talent, comprised of four members: Dan Radclyffe, a Grammy-nominated hip-hop producer who has participated in recordings for artists such as Drake and AlunaGeorge; Llywelyn Ap Myrddin, a classical/opera composer with a penchant for electronica; Guillaume Jambel, a house music DJ and drummer who has toured with George Fitzgerald; and Tom Havelock, a singer-songwriter who has collaborated with artists such as Riton, Sinead Hartnett, and Ray BLK. Their debut EP, "Futures," released in 2016 on B3SCI, a label run by the popular US West Coast blog Blah Blah Blah Science, quickly garnered attention and received heavy airplay. They enjoy overwhelming popularity in Asia, with their live shows consistently selling out. In May 2018, they released their new EP "Cold Fire" and held their first concert in Japan, showcasing their exceptional talent and receiving widespread acclaim. While the excitement was still high, in November 2018 they released the EP "Line By Line," featuring Shownu, the vocalist of the popular K-POP group Monsta X (his first-ever featured appearance), So!YoON! from the new generation Korean indie band Se So Neon (who have also caught the attention of Ryuichi Sakamoto), Cory Wong from the next generation minimal funk band Vulfpeck from LA, and Paul Jackson Jr., a living legend known as the "King of Sessions" who has previously supported artists such as Michael Jackson and Elton John. Then, in 2019, they made their first appearance on the beach stage at Summer Sonic, followed by a second successful solo concert. Blending various influences from R&B, blue-eyed soul, funk, jazz, and AOR with exquisite balance, and utilizing sweet high-pitched vocals and harmonies under the guidance of skilled musicians, their stylish pop sound, which combines nostalgia and novelty, creating catchy melodies and a light groove, has garnered support across genre boundaries.
