Content Introduction A tribal and spacey, superb sound from Matthewdavid's Leaving Records. A new music project by Melati Malay of Young Magic, the anonymous project Kaazi (released on 100% silk), and multimedia artist Tristern Arp, founder of Human Pitch, completed in 10 days in Jakarta! Melati Malay of Young Magic, who hails from Jakarta and releases works on Carpark, Kaazi, the anonymous project released on 100% silk, and multimedia artist Tristern Arp, resident DJ at The Lot Radio in NY and founder of Human Pitch, all gathered in Jakarta in January 2018 when Melati returned home, and recorded this work over 10 days in a makeshift studio set up in the jungle. Incorporating both digital and analog processing, this music is constructed with a minimal array of instruments, including the traditional Balinese percussion instrument rindik, the bamboo flute suling, the analog synth Moog Sub 37, and effects pedals, along with collective voices and the sounds of the surrounding environment. While seemingly focused on a single point, various sounds pour in from all directions, leading the listener into an enchanting world. The minimalist rhythms and soundscapes of the percussion and effects unfold with a certain dissonance yet a unique comfort and addictiveness, drawing the listener in as they intertwine and blend with the effective and sensual vocals. A masterpiece that fuses various elements from gamelan, ambient, minimal, techno, electronica, and new age at a high level. About the Artists: This music project was formed by Melati Malay of Young Magic (released on Carpark), the anonymous project Kaazi (released on 100% silk), and multimedia artist Tristern Arp, resident DJ at The Lot Radio in NY and founder of Human Pitch. Melati, who is from Jakarta, returned to his home country, and the group gathered for 10 days, jamming in a makeshift studio in the jungle to complete this work.
