Belgian orthodox death metal band Aborted was formed in 1995 by Sven de Calvet, who still serves as the frontman and is the only remaining original member. They made their album debut in 1999 with "The Purity of Perversion." After releasing albums such as "Engineering the Dead" (2001), "Goremageddon: The Saw and the Carnage Done" (2003), and "The Archaic Abattoir" (2005), they signed with major German label Century Media Records and grew into one of Europe's leading death metal bands. Now, Aborted has moved to Nuclear Blast and is releasing a new album after a three-year hiatus. Titled "Vault of Horrors," this album lives up to its name, with every track dedicated to classic horror films such as "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre," "Halloween," and "The Return of the Living Dead." The sound, needless to say, is Aborted's signature dark, violent, high-speed guitar riff-filled death metal. A must-listen for anyone who loves heavy metal; it's a top-notch death metal album.
