Content Introduction Exhorder, respected by metal fans worldwide as the pioneers of groove metal, releases their first new album in five years! With former Cannibal Corpse member Pat O'Brien on lead guitar, they venture into a more aggressive style. Produced by the legendary Jens Bogren. Exhorder is a thrash metal band from New Orleans. Formed in 1985, their album debut with 'Slaughter in the Vatican' didn't come until 1990. Their second album, 'The Law,' was released in 1992, but they couldn't survive the dark age of metal in the 90s and disbanded in 1993. If that were all, they would simply be another unfortunate thrash metal band that appeared a little late. However, Exhorder has long been a subject of debate in the metal world: "Isn't this the band that Pantera used as inspiration?" Indeed, there are many musical and visual similarities between the two. And there's no doubt that Phil Anselmo was a huge Exhorder fan. The band members themselves, however, are unfazed by outside controversies and offer a straightforward comment: "Did Pantera influence us? Absolutely. If you ask if they copied us, well, maybe. But they worked much harder than us. That's why they succeeded. It's as simple as that." In 2019, Exhorder released their third album, "Mourn the Southern Skies," their first in 27 years, surprising fans worldwide. Now, after five years, they're releasing their fourth album. Titled "Defectum Omnium," this album has more thrash and punk elements than its predecessor, resulting in a more aggressive sound. And that's no surprise, as the lead guitar on this album is played by former Cannibal Corpse member Pat O'Brien! Of course, their signature doomy and groovy sound is still present. This album truly showcases the pioneers of groove metal. The band was produced by the legendary Jens Bogren. ? This band is said to have been the musical and visual inspiration for Pantera. ?
